I decided to reply to THPrincess’ comment to my Not to Believe post here. She ask,”is the Netherlands fighting the war? Last time, I checked all of Europe except Tony Blair has surrendered.” No, Europeans as a mass people have abandoned their traditions other than secularistic “do your own thing; you’re okay, I’m okay” mentality.
I e-mailed to my Mexican-Dutch friend (the order of his nationalities is depended upon which passport is being used at any given time) the URL about his compatriot’s foolish remarks. I ask him, “What a way to fight a war! Adopt the enemies’ terms. Anyway, Bishop ‘Tiny’ should re-read the Old Testament.” We have exchanged several e-mails about it and I shall share with you. It gives us a general insight into the continental mindset:
Friend: Within two decades there is not likely to be very many Dutch Catholics, since
1)The Netherlands native population (those who live in the NL as opposed to outside NL) is not having many children.
2)The majority of the Netherlands native population youth does NOT believe in ANY religion, and the % of non believers is increasing every year.
Maybe this priest is expecting the catholic church of the Netherlands to merge with the faith of the immigrant (muslim) population in order to continue to have ‘clients’ of the church…without ’some’ strategy he and all other catholic priests in NL will be out of a job in that country, and government offices…like most of them have already been transformed in the larger cities of NL.
ME: He [Bishop 'Tiny'] was foreseeing an Islamic Holland. Under the sharia laws non-believers are either killed, converted, or remain in current non-muslim beliefs as second-class citizens. That bishop guess within one to two centuries. Any remaining Dutch Catholics will be kowtowing to the Dutch Ayatollah; Catholic Dutch will go underground as their Catholic Chinese are doing.
Friend: You misinterpreted me. I am NOT saying that NL will be taken over by Islam ..not at all. Dutch won’t allow it. The racist movement has begun as a result of the latest killings by Muslims, and the immigration law has been reformed to make it more difficult for Muslims to come into the country. However, what I am saying is that those few that believe will most likely be from a Muslim background, since the native population doesn’t believe very much and the trend is for them to believe even less as time goes bye. NL will still be run by the Dutch, but 90% or more will be non-religious..so that 10% that remains may be joining the Islamic-Dutch church..since they will probably be of foreign origin anyway.
ME: I didn’t imply you said that, but I was giving my thoughts. Human nature hates a vacuum. The native populations of NL and elsewhere in the west are non-believers. Holland is getting if not there now into not believing in anything but the here-and-now. Man seeks understanding and he doesn’t last long in the no-man-land of disbelief. In short, Christianity is almost dead at least dead as a traditional religion perhaps as a social group in Holland. Islam seems to be the only viable moral code left over there.
Friend: Why would people turn to ‘Islam.’
ME: Man needs moral certitude in his life. He may live temporary by his own wits and understandings but man always turns again to a faith in something other than his own creation. At this time and see-able future Islam will fulfill that need in those who are secularized. Yes, as you wrote earlier, “NL will still be run by the Dutch.” The Question is: which Dutch?
It recalls to me the belief: IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE. There was a book before the second world war in the last century called As England slept. Should we substitute Europe for England in that title?
