Happy Constitution Day!

In suburban Chicago they will mark this day with an appearance by Abigail Adams. Daily Herald

The article erroneously describes Mrs Adams as the wife of John Quincy. She was of course the mother of Quincy and the wife of John. I assume that newspapers facing loss of subscribers fire the fact checkers first.

On this day I would suggest reading David McCoullough’s gripping life of John Adams.

Mr. Adams wrote the Massachusetts Constitution which served as the model for the Federal Constitution. (Hard to imagine a time when Mass. was not the home of the blame America first crowd.) Mr. Adams role in the Constitution is mostly missed by history, as Mr. Adams knew he would be. Today would be a good day to remember him.

Good to know it is celebrated today. The best part about it is the federal government’s absent. Today is a State matter because the Constitution belongs to the States and the people.
