Happy Seventeenth of September!
Jonah Goldberg wrote in National Review online of July 8, 2003 about “Why the Constitution should remain dead.” He was talking about Sandra Day O’Connor speech in Philadelphia on the “living constitution.” I got the impression Goldberg was confused if the discussion there was about the Constitution living or if O’Connor was. Emanating penumbra is the best phrase of these opened-minded legal professionals [so open-minded that they only ask questions without care of ever really finding any answers. Qustioning is the highest pursuit of their happiness] for in the dark they bump into their judicial opinions. I prefer to live under the Consitution as a legal document than a constitution that is ‘living’ and adjustable to the whims of whatever the current trend of the ‘modern’ convenient life-styles.
