The Fonz in Bronze in Milwaukee

Oh, just what Wisconsin needs to show itself off to the world: goofy statues! In the Milwaukee Jounal Sentinel newspaper there is on just that topic.

Which statue for The Fonz:

TV Land has donated six sculptures commemorating memorable TV events or characters to various cities, starting in 2000 with a New York City statue of Ralph Kramden, Jackie Gleason’s character from “The Honeymooners.”

What notable thing did the actor who played The Fonz ever actually do either as that character or in real life? Is he a hero who is worthy to be mentioned as THPrincess has been posting about recently for us? He helped keep many of us at home, off the street, to watch his useless show, Happy Days. He did help make us passive enough so that idiots such as the wonder-boy Carter could get elected to the presidency. Sigh!

The hero of Happy Days was the man most admired by the Fonz himself, Howard Cunningham. Mr. C was a hard working man, had served in WWII, provided for his family, stayed true to his wife. When the Fonz wanted advice he went to Mr. C. Even within the limited confines of tv wisdom, the wisdom of Happy Days has been lost to our insipid culture.

Okay, a statue of Howard Cunningham would be fine, but no Fonz, heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

By the way, in the first season of “Happy Days,” The Cunninghams had a older son. Richie’s older brother was dumped in the second season — so, Mr. C isn’t so perfect. What happen to the older kid? Skid row?
