The Unbearable Heaviness of Heroism
The MSM can’t mention the heroes in our armed forces without putting some negative spin on it. The idea of nobility and sacrifice are unacceptable burdens in our narcissistic age. How do we live with our petty selves knowing that young men and women are willing to lay down their lives for our safety and liberty? Here the USA Today takes a look at the survivor’s guilt of soldiers rescued by other soldiers sacrificing their lives. I think that if the country gave our war heroes the respect and attention they deserve our whole country would have survivor guilt. How much better it is to look at our soldiers as victims of evil Bushitler conspiracies. If we look at them as noble heroes making the choice to lay down their lives for us, how would we live with that? It was easier when sacrifice and duty were words used in everyday life. Mothers sacrificed their own desires to care for their families; fathers sacrificed their leisure to provide for their families. But we have been told for 30 years to do what feels good, follow our bliss and the hell with duty. The men and women in uniform are relics of a bygone era. Their very presence must shame us. No wonder the MSM won’t tell us about them. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-09-19-Grenade_N.htm?csp=34
