Bad Water Horse
I should have known. When they started advertising The Water Horse as the best thing since E.T. I should have known it would be awful. But The Young Prince had read the book and loved it, so despite reservations we went. Big mistake!
They took an enchanting story and turned it into a slap job of existing Hollywood cliches. What should be charming moments between the boy and his magical creature, keep getting short shrift for the maudlin plot about the adults. The climax is an exact replica of Free Willy that gosh awful killer whale movie. The Scottish scenery is breathtaking. The boy and his water horse are charming, what little we see of them. But the movie is an excessive, overwrought dud. Get your kids the original book and skip this awful movie I wish I had. dbpcosdcsgt.co.san-diego.ca.us
Books and movies are different media despite the two may share the orginal creator/author. The former usually controled the story; the latter finds its tale through concessions from ‘doing lunch’ repeatedly. Read the book!
