Good Night, America, and Good Luck

A good friend, who is thirty-something and a multi-passported foreigner, told me yesterday history and geography are boring. The former would be better served by watching hollywood movies and, the. latter one should travel independently in order to learn about others.

Last night, he said his Netfix movie for viewing was the 2005 “Good Night and Good Luck” starring George Cooley. It was modern history night last night for my friend. [The movie is about the conflict between Murrow and McCarthy.]
He e-mailed me,

“What an Aesha [sic] from Wisconsin you had as Senator back in early 50s’. Is that the type of crooks you have ruling your state or have things changed?”

I replied, ” Never heard of Aesha.” When he calls I think I will simply say I don’t discuss hollywood produced “history.” How would you respond? I watch the local school board debate this week and they didn’t say good things about education — it isn’t just foreigners who are ahistorical.

When ask what type of government the constitution created, Ben Franklin reportedly said, “a republic if you can keep it.” Too many idiots around me are proving it could happen here. Sigh!

Dean is this post supposed to be a bunch of random letters and numbers?

[LOL! The programs didn't like my e-mail that I sent here and it showed it all as rubbish. Sorry. -DeanSMS]

You could point out that his appaling ignorance is exactly why we must teach history in our schools and a lot better than we have been. I would bet the Young Prince knows more history than this guy.
