What is Peggy Seeing?

In today’s Wall St. Journal, linked above, Peggy Noonan comes up with a sentence that I find inexplicable.
Can Mr. Obama survive this? Yes. But it made a bad impression, the kind it’s hard to eradicate. Good news for him: the trope that blacks aren’t snobs, they’re patronized by snobs. Also, he doesn’t seem haughty. He seems like a nice man.
What is Peggy seeing, what has she been watching? Doesn’t seem haughty? His picture is in the dictionary under haughty, also hubris. Long before he let the moderate mask slip and revealed the radical leftist he is, I was overcome by his arrogance and his sneering condescension. This is the man whose campaign was dubbed Messianic months ago. This is the man who said a light will fill the room and tell you to vote for Obama. This is the man who claimed he could rise above all the corruption of American politics and wash us clean with his mere presence. His entire campaign has been haughty, arrogant and disturbing. No I don’t get the impression at all that he is a nice man. Never mind that nice men don’t talk about their daughters maybe having sex when they are 12. Nice men are strong and resolute, but modest and reasonable. They leave the lights filling the room to the Almighty.
Ms. Noonan needs a vacation. She desperately needs to get out of the east coast and spend some time with people who aren’t running for anything.
