Another Case For McCain

Really when conservatives complain that McCain is not one of us, we need to seriously reconsider what “us” means. Do all the troops we pledge to support agree with us about campaign finance reform or immigration? Do they have to agree with us on these issues for us to admire and support them? Running for President is different you say and so it is. But McCain isn’t running for President against Reagan or Goldwater. Is McCain more conservative than Hillary or Obama? Do I even need to ask? Just spend 10 minutes imaging the judges Hil/Obam might put on the Supreme Court and if that doesn’t get your feet heading to the polls to vote for McCain well then you are the one not being conservative. McCain is a conservative on abortion. McCain on spending is far more conservative than the compassionate one everyone tried to convince me not to long ago was the next Reagan. (I always knew compassionate conservative was code for watch your wallet.) Really it is time for us to stop holding our nose and embrace who McCain is not be angry over what we want him to be. And as the story linked above shows who he is, is stronger and braver than I could ever hope to be.
