Something you don’t see every day
Good coverage about handguns (click here).
The perp has the teller loading bills in a bag after handing her a note that says he has a bomb. Another customer (Nabil Fawzi, former Lebenese army) sees this and pulls out his handgun (yes, he does have a CCW permit) and says “you are not robbing this bank!”. Perp says “but … I have a bomb!” and Fawzi says “I don’t care. You are not robbing this bank!” and holds the perp at gunpoint in a chair until the cops show up.
What is unusual about this is that we rarely get any positive coverage about armed civilians stopping crimes with handguns. Usually they are “non-events” since no one gets hurt, and are therefore not worth covering. This article calls him a “hero”! Even more positive, Fawzi did not have any problems from the cops about the incident. The times, are they changing? We certainly could use more positive coverage like this.

The press covered this story because they wanted to call someone named Fawzi a hero. If he was a while male they would have called him a disgraceful vigilante taking the law into his own hands.
