No Alternative, Literally

Whatever one thinks about the neocons, they had virtually the only program, the only idea of how to right the world after 9/11. Conventional liberalism and conventional liberals had nothing to say. They still don’t.
I have supported President Bush’s plan for Iraq for the most part because it is the only plan I have heard. Conservatives such as George Will and John Derbyshire want to bomb everytime there is an attack and liberals want to bribe the terrorists into not attacking us. In other words right and left want to continue with the same course of action that got us to 9/11 in the first place. President Bush’s plan might be a long shot, but it is a plan something new to try instead of the same old, completely failed and ironically named “real” politik.
I will gladly listen to any alternatives to Bush’s democracy project, but so far all I have heard is those darn crickets..
