Chanukah Musings
The Greeks weren’t so bad. They didn’t blow up Bat Mitzvahs or smash in the skulls of little girls. All they wanted was the Jews to give up all that God oogedy, boogedy stuff. And after all most American Jews have gladly embraced what the Greeks wanted without a single death threat.
The Greeks just wanted obedience, they didn’t want every last Jew dead as the Palestinians constantly tell us they want. But the Maccabees just wouldn’t listen. They refused to go along with the roadmap to Peace. If the Maccabees had just sat down with the Greeks and compromised a bit, said a few prayers to Zeus, that whole nasty war could have been avoided.
It is the Jews today that need a Maccabee. It is the Jews today that cannot mollify our enemies with compromise. It is the Jews today that have an enemy that will only be satisfied with our complete destruction. The Holocaust was a Palestinian Imam’s idea. Where are the Maccabees now that we really need them?
