Holiday Movie Recommendation

One of the most overlooked holiday films is “The Muppets Christmas Carol”.  Seriously.  Don’t laugh … well, not at me, you may laugh at the film.

Aside from being a fun Muppet movie, it is actually a surprisingly faithful interpretation of the classic tale.  Michael Caine is an excellent Ebeneezer, the Muppets perform their various roles amazingly well, and the score is wonderful.  They really did an amazing job combining the irreverance of the Muppets while at the same time faithfully presenting the original material.  (Ok, turning Jacob Marley to “The Marley Brothers” (Jacob and Robert) isn’t that close to the original, but it works for them.)  The Ghost of Christmas Past is amazing, as is the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Do yourself a favor — if you like “A Christmas Carol”, rent this version.  Even if you don’t have kids!
