How government minds work…

There is a new class of criminal. The US District Court in Georgia has issued an arrest warrant for … a gun part.

Not the owner of a gun. Not a gun. A gun

    part

.

Why? Because “[A]ll it took was some metal, a length of chain, some duct tape and some plastic wire ties for the federal inspectors to make his gun part operate [as a machine gun].”

Heck, there are people who could probably take the rest of that stuff without the disputed part and make a machine gun out of it!

Oh … and the best bit in this mess? Do you want to know where this vicious inanimate object is currently hiding out? It is already in the Atlanta offices of the ATF, where it had been submitted for an approval before being used!

So … the guy submits a repair part for approval for the ATF. The ATF takes some duct tape and wire and concludes that this can be made into a machine gun. And then they go to court to get an arrest warrant for a part they already have in their posession as part of the sanctioned approval application process?

Is it any wonder we have no chance when going up against people whose thought processes are as twisted as this?
