How Did the Predictions Go
Well unlike all those other predicting weenies I actually score my predictions http://marlettsmith.com/blog/index.php/2009/01/03/predictions-2009/ Here’s a roundup of what I predicted and how it came out.
It doesn’t matter who wins the men’s event at Nationals, NBC’s coverage will be propping Evan Lysacek and Scott Hamilton will get out the slow motion to prove that Evan should have won….
Nope, Scott admitted Jeremy deserved to win Nationals and saved his Evan propping for Worlds where Evan really was the best
The Ladies’ event will be won by one of the 25 Ladies entered.
Well technically this was right. But in reality no one “won” the ladys event at Nationals this year.
Mao Asada or Yuna Kim will deserve to win Worlds, or maybe both. No matter how she skates Carolina Kostner is on the podium and if she can stay off her butt the Euro-weenie judges will give her the title.
Yuna won deservedly. Kostner had such a breakdown no amount of cheating could prop her up so I am giving myself credit for this one.
The Russians win ice dance at Worlds in preparation for them being handed the title next year in Vancouver.
The Russians were terrible, they won, told you so. Why don’t we just mail them the Olypic Gold Medal and spare ourselves having to watch their sloppy twizzles and two footed skating in Vancouver.
Men at Worlds like ladies at Nationals is totally up for grabs. If Brian Joubert can stay on his feet he wins, but that is a big if. Jeremy Abbot, Patrick Chan and Takahiko Kozuka will be more enjoyable to watch than Joubert no matter how they skate.
Joubert did not stay on his feet. Patrick and Takahiko were more enjoyable than Joubert, but not Jeremy. Evan’s victory was a total surprise to me.
Barack Obama achieved our nation’s highest office by skulking around the corners of Chicago politics, letting the corruption and malfeasance of others propel him forward. …… He is going to make Carter look competent.
Even liberals are comparing him to Carter. Got that one completely right.
