REFLECTIONS

For years Obama has scorned the Birther controversy, steadfastly ignoring the internet buzz about his birth certificate.  For once his famous cool worked exactly as advertised, he ignored the fringe argument and it stayed on the fringe.  Suddenly the birthers are everywhere, on CNN, on my AOL welcome screen.   After ignoring the question for months the White House is commenting on it.  Why suddenly is Obama given the Birthers the compliment of a response?

Cause he needs his “victim” status back, and he needs it fast.  Look call me a racist I don’t care, Obama was only elected President because half a century ago black people were denied civil rights in this country.   Obama’s election was one big ol’ act of reparations.   But now he is quadrupling the deficit while jetting off to glamorous dates while trying to take over health care and his poll numbers are dropping fast.  He needs once again to be seen as a victim against the onslaught of white racism. 

Think about Gates-gate.  He deliberately chose the reporter who would ask that question.  So he could once again portray wealthy, Ivy League black men as victims of a racist society.  That went over like a lead balloon.  So now he is posing himself as fending off the deluge of birthers setting siege against his presidency.  The birthers, of course, like the moon landing was faked guys, and the Roswell guys. and William Shatner are sad freaks on the edge of our culture.  They have no more meaning or power than a flea. 

But by emphasizing the Birthers the MSM and the White House, which are one and the same thing, can portray poor President Obama as being the victim of a crazed Obama derangement syndrome.  So the MSM is going to take time from calling Gov. Palin’s daughters hos to shed the light on those awful Birthers attacking poor, little, pathetic Victim In Chief.  Cause that’s not just Obama’s ace, that’s all he’s got.
