Yes The Earth Moved
The windows rattled for a few seconds and stopped. About ten seconds later the windows rattled louder, the whole house shook, and the cats fled upstairs to hide under the bed. This went on for what felt like a whole minute. It was easily the strongest earthquake I have felt since the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 http://pubs.usgs.gov/dds/dds-29/, that was the earthquake that shut down the World Series, so naturally I was concerned. My family is down in San Diego today at Balboa Park so the first thing I did was call and check on them. They were just fine, but couldn’t talk because BurkeanSon wanted to get to a museum before it closed. My son knows his priorities.
I turned on my tv to find out what was going on. ALL the local stations were broadcasting infomercials and wouldn’t interrupt them for the earthquake. I was dumbfounded. The first thing you are supposed to do during a natural disaster is check local news for information. Fortunately within minues my twitter followers had the info and links up for me. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/ci14607652.php
The hole of obsolesce old media is digging for itself got a lot bigger today. The ONE thing tv news ever had going for it was immediacy. If they’ve lost that, they have no reason to exist.
