Disturbing
This is one of those things that Is Not Supposed To Happen Here.
A man taken from his house in the middle of the night with no warrant, and without benefit of attorney or communication with any outside contact, remanded to the custody of a mental facility for “evaluation” of indefinite duration.
His crime: purchasing firearms.
There may be one small grain of cause in the story. He had been recently fired. He had a dispute with his boss. And he was a goverment worker. You can see why people might have been scared, right?
On the other hand he was pursuing his dispute through proper channels and had made no (count ‘em, zero) threats to anyone. In other words there was no probable cause to believe that he was a danger to anyone.
This is how they are going to do it folks. No warrants, no “probable cause”, no defense. Midnight raids and holds for psychiactric evaluation.
