Orwell Call Your Office
Over the last few days I have lost track of how many times I’ve seen headlines espousing the new Arizona immigration law as “polarizing”, “divisive” and “controversial.” This for a law that 60% of the country supports.
On the other hand we have Obamacare, from the great unifier, President Obama. 58% of the country, and counting, oppose this law. But not once have I seen a headline calling it so much as controversial.
So let me see if I can understand this new dictionary. If something is supported by a large majority it is “controversial.” Something that is opposed by a large majority is “unifying.” Is that it?
