Doh!
Consider this a facepalm moment. I knew all of these things but I had never put it together quite this way before. I was listening to a caller on a National Radio Call-in Show. He was talking about talking about how we deal with illegal immigrants and he said:
- It’s “don’t ask don’t tell” when they go to the emergency room
- It’s “don’t ask don’t tell” when they collect welfare
- It’s “don’t ask don’t tell” when they enroll in the schools
- Then when they got to be hired somewhere, we make the “evil businesspeople” check their ID.
I knew all this. I even agree with the reason for requiring employers to check out their employees and vehemently disagree with the idea that our goverment services must turn a blind eye to the residency status of the applicants.
What had not occurred to me before was the insidiousness of this combination. Consider this: when it comes to sucking off the government pork teat, they are encouraged to do so, but when (if) they desire to attempt to feed the bloated pig or earn their own money they are warned off upon pain of deportation.
Can you imagine any set of rules better designed to make a subclass actively resented by the populace?
And now that that subclass is actively resented — for purely economic reasons — can you imagine any subclass better suited to be used as an excuse to cry “racism” upon those who resent them?
This is intentional folks. We’ve been set up. And I missed it, until now. How about the rest of you?
