Obama wants to spill more oil

I am sure you have all heard about Obama’s recommendations for the Gulf, and the review panel saying “those aren’t the recommendations we signed off on”.

What is being lost here is the implications of one of the biggest of the recommendations. Obama wants to stop all offshore drilling for six months. Sound good? Sound responsible?

What about when you realize that the BP incident happened when the well was being shut down.

Basically any time you change things is an increased chance for bad things to happen. Starting up and shutting down being two of the biggest changes. It is safer to continue drilling than it is to shut down!

So … we have a bad accident when a rig tries to stop drilling on a well. So, what do we want to do? We want to tell all the others to shut down?

Does this really make sense to you?

The media does seem to be covering the fact that the panel is disavowing the current set of recommendations.  But for the most part they are missing the recommendations themselves.
