Yes, and one that perhaps explains why so many voters think the current setup lacks the consent of the governed.
Nope, sorry not buying that, not letting the governed off the hook for this one. The governed quite willingly walked into the voting booths and chose a man hostile to capitalism. Far worse they gave greater power to legislators even more hostile to capitalism. No matter how much destruction is done to liberty by our government, it is the will of the people that set all this in motion.
And please don’t give me that Obama was hiding his true self nonsense. Obama promised to punish the rich and build bigger government. Obama flat out said punishing the rich is more important that increasing revenues. The people were caught up in a demagogic haze of class warfare and a ravenous lust for great, government giveaways. Two years ago these “free market” supporters hated free markets and wanted the business and banks punished. Well be careful for what you wish.
This is the consent of the governed. It is also buyer’s remorse.
