Brilliant Politics Bad Governing

Liberals have to keep calling Gov. Palin stupid, because her brilliance is beyond them. She is a genius at telling middle America exactly what they want to hear. She hits every note perfectly to appeal to  ordinary working class America. This ad that has gone viral throughout the internet is the most brilliant bit of political campaigning I’ve seen since Reagan’s Morning in America

And that’s what worries me. Yes Gov. Palin has a message people want to hear, but so did Sen. Obama 3 years ago.  Reagan flattered the American people as does Palin.  Obama flattered the American people, and apologized for them when they weren’t around to see.

The American people don’t need flattery; they need truth.  This economic situation is our own fault.  We have endlessly passed program after program to take the hard edges and risk out of life.  We have lined up an endless parade of unsustainable, entitlement programs.  We expect our Social Security taxes to be waiting for us in a giant vault like Scrooge McDuck’s wealth.  We think the work of doctors and medical researchers is ours by right.  We expect that we can drop our kids at the local government school and they we all emerge prodigies.  We expect the finest University system in the world to grant our children degrees worth a million dollars, even if their work is worthless.  We have demanded more from government while demanding government stop spending.

There was never enough money to pay for the New Deal; there was never enough money to pay for the Great Society; there was never enough money to pay for Prescription Drug entitlements and No Child Being Left Behind.  There was always going to have to be a day of reckoning and that day has arrived.

We don’t need flattery; we need truth.  Pay your own damn doctor, save for your own retirement, you want your kids to be smart then throw away the video games and buy them books!

Of course anyone who said this would be tarred and feathered.  But that’s what needs saying.
