Free Speech: Endangered Species
So the Brit at NR http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/296004/derb-and-discourse-john-osullivan has joined the Canadian at NR http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/295591/re-derb-mark-steyn in condemming the firing of John Derbyshire.
That’s not surprising. Canada and Great Britain have jettisoned free speech for Political Correctness. Mark Steyn was actually prosecuted for committing the heinous offense of writing his opinions in public. Of course they would take threats to free excerisice of speech more seriously; they know what it is to lose it. You may say “well that will never happen here.” But if you had told the British people 10 years ago that people would soon face arrest for insulting soccer players on the internet they would have scoffed and said how ridiculous. If Steyn and O’Sullivan sound paranoid about free speech, I say look around. It isn’t paranoia to notice the left is out to get you.
