Miss Ann Thrope is not very political. She would, for instance, never let her conservatism get in the way of watching The West Wing, no matter how many times I razzed her about it. She even once stupidly said it doesn’t even matter much who wins the Presidency. (Don’t worry I never let her live that one down.)

When Obama was re-elected she was more enraged than I had ever seen her about politics. She un-friended 30 people on facebook. I’ve rarely ever seen her even fight about politics let alone end friendships. I asked her why this time was so different than all the other times liberals have won. “He left them to die, he left them to die,” was all she could say.

Mark Steyn paints as desperate a picture of Benghazi as Ann agonizingly exclaimed. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/347980/benghazi-lie

Back in Benghazi, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty held off numerically superior forces for hours before dying on a rooftop waiting for back-up from a government that had switched the answering machine on and gone to Vegas.

Those words could well be the beginning of America’s eulogy.

But was Obama and Benghazi really worse that FDR at Yalta? Yes Obama left 4 men to die in Benghazi. How many soldiers died in Vietnam because of LBJ’s obsessive rules of engagement that forbade fighting back. You see my point. Life is always cheap to Democrats. Always has been, always will be. We can defeat Obama, we can defeat that witch Hilary. The left will bounce back in an even more homicidal form.

I just saw a comment at the Daily Beast, some liberal dismissing Benghazi as “nothing” just meant to destroy Hilary! There was a time I could not think badly enough of any of my fellow Americans to imagine that even liberals would dismiss leaving Navy Seals and an Ambassador to die was “nothing.”

But that time was very long ago.

I don’t think I am writing about the attempts to save America anymore. I think I am writing an eyewitness account of the last days of mankind’s last, best hope on earth. If I didn’t have a son, I wouldn’t even mind. After Benghazi, followed by Obama’s re-election, what is now called the USA doesn’t deserve to be.

I am still in a state of shock and dismay. I think Robert Stacy McCain may be right http://spectator.org/archives/2012/11/07/doomed-beyond-all-hope-of-rede , and Mark Steyn. We chose decline with our eyes wide open. My best friend, who usually avoids discussing politics at all costs, posted this on her facebook page. I think it is a great summary: hat tip Ann Jensen

“What I have long known, but now is festering in stewing fits of rage in what passes for my soul:

1) Hate speech is OK as long as it is about Republicans, or anyone (or any business) that is rich and/or successful who is not a celebrity.

2)People can be bought away from their principles. “Give” their son health care – they are yours, even if you do not stop the war(s) they say they hate, or even if you are OK with the abortions they are against. $ > ANY moral standards.

3) Words are more important than deeds. Say you support them and want to help them and you do not need to actually do anything that helps them. Just keep sounding like you care and that will do it. And you do not even have to be all that good with words if the media will help you – Benghazi is a stunning example of how you can say all the wrong things and, if you have the media on your side, still be just fine.

4) The concept of a limited government is dead. Government is seen as Superman that should be righting every wrong and fixing every problem. And there is no Kryptonite. And its supply of power and resources are magically resupplied whenever something unpleasant happens.

5) People want other people’s stuff and we are all now supposed to be ok with this because someone who the media says “cares” is going to be deciding how to hand out the stuff.”

It took a tremendous amount of courage for Gov. Romney to say such bald faced truths. The fact that it takes courage to speak truth in this country says very bad things about our country. Nevertheless good for Gov. Romney.

You know I was going to have to vote for him. Lately I’ve been wanting to vote for him.

The mess that Obama is always whining about is as to nothing compared to the mess Romney will inherit, if we are lucky enough to get rid of Obama.

Reagan came with a reputation. A reputation based mostly on the media’s lies and spins. Ironically the media’s fabrication of the trigger happy cowboy worked in our favor and the Iranians couldn’t hand over the hostages fast enough. The media, in portraying Reagan as a warmonger, made our enemies afraid of the mere idea of Reagan. No one is afraid of Romney.

Obama has left the country a broke, paper tiger. I pity Romney.

I have ranted and raved against the “fiscal conservative, social liberal” model many, many times in this blog already. But the point of that model is that everyone in the country claims to be fiscal conservatives. And as I have explained again and again, that’s not true. Everyone wants to claim to be responsible with money, but no one ever wants to actually give up stuff.

So a mere four months after electing a man who promised to “spread the wealth around” the Tea Parties broke out. After deliberately electing a socialist President and begging him to be like that most successful of socialists FDR, the American people woke up and said “hey we aren’t running out of other people’s money! we are running out of MY money.” And suddenly fiscal conservatism was cool again.

Now in choosing the brainy nerd with the budget balancing plan, Romney has called the country’s bluff. You say you want fiscal responsibility well here he is Mr. Entitlement Reform. This is what not spending more than you have looks like!

Will this work or will the country decide that fiscal responsibility is great, but we can do it next time, let’s have a few more free goodies now before we really get serious. That’s been the pattern my entire life. I am not optimistic.
